SENSE OF PLACE | ADELAIDE FESTIVAL CENTRE

Seamlessly integrating fashion with the landmarks that form the beating heart of our city, our Sense of Place campaign is a celebration of who we are, where we have been, and the connection between place and art.

With its bold geometric form jutting into the air, the Adelaide Festival Centre cuts an iconic shape on King William Road. Come evening, the complex illuminates, casting a stunning silhouette across the Riverbank Precinct and beyond.

South Australia’s principal performing arts venue celebrated 50 years in 2023 (opening three months ahead of the Sydney Opera House!) and remains an enduring symbol of the arts in Adelaide. Originally funded by public appeal and reaching its target within a week, Adelaide residents continue to feel a sense of pride and ownership over this hub of performing arts.

Home to the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, State Opera of South Australia and The Australian Ballet, the Adelaide Festival Centre is focused on creating a rich and diverse program spanning culture, experience and genre, also hosting smaller events like OzAsia and the Adelaide Guitar Festival.

While magic always happens on stage, we know plenty goes on behind-the-scenes. ADL Fashion Week (AFW) delved into the unseen backstage for our Sense of Place campaign, a spot imbued with decades of creative energy.

The inspiration, originality and tooth-and-nail spirit of those who have worked within these walls is paralleled by the featured designers, from contemporary elegance at couture+love+madness (handcrafted by one of our AFW Icons, Cristina Tridente) to Acler's playful silhouettes and accessories from Shades, one of Rundle Mall’s longest standing retailers.
