SENSE OF PLACE | ADELAIDE BOTANIC GARDEN
Seamlessly integrating fashion with the landmarks that form the beating heart of our city, our Sense of Place campaign is a celebration of who we are, where we have been, and the connection between place and art.
Steeped in history and filled with the vitality of new life, the Adelaide Botanic Garden at once captures new beginnings and evergreen beauty.
With stunning architecture – like the serene Palm House built in 1877 – contrasting organic forms, the Botanic Gardens are a tranquil space to embrace creative thought, making it an ideal spot to showcase the work of some of our finest local creatives.
Botanics have long inspired designers and makers, whether it's the interpretation of their form – like Paolo Sebastian’s corseted blue mini dress featuring a 3D camelia – or their abstraction through fluid lines, patterns or innovative construction. But it doesn’t stop there: the future of fabrication is also plant-based, with many designers looking to alternatives such as mushrooms, pineapples or even seaweed.
Champions, protectors and storytellers, the Botanic Garden team understand this link between nature and creativity. They help others understand how plants shape our future, paving the way for new research and motivating the community to contribute to the sustainability of our living world.
